How Profile Matching Works at Loxaco

Many builders need to match an existing molding profile during renovations, additions, or historic reproduction work. Loxaco provides accurate profile matching using several methods.

Matching From a Physical Sample

You can bring or ship a small piece of the existing molding. This gives the most precise match because the knife can be ground directly from the sample.

Matching From a Drawing

Architectural drawings with measurements allow us to replicate the profile accurately. This is common for new construction or designer-created profiles.

Matching From a Photo

A sliver of a profile (1/8″ thick or so), laid down on a piece of paper and scanned into your computer.  Write the length and width measurements and we can use the scanned image to create knives.

Knife Grinding for Custom Profiles

If the profile is unique, we grind custom knives specifically for your project. These knives are stored for future use.
