Overview: what Loxaco does

Loxaco manufactures custom moldings for builders and designers who need reliable lead times and flexible run sizes. Most projects are completed in about one week. We specialize in short-run moldings from one foot to one thousand feet and provide custom profile matching for new builds, renovations, and historic reproductions.

1) How custom moldings are made

Producing moldings involves profile selection, knife preparation, machine setup, test runs, and full production.

Profile Selection or Matching
Builders may choose a standard profile or request a custom match from a sample or drawing.

Knife Preparation
We select the correct knife set or grind new knives when needed for a custom design.

Machine Setup
The molder is calibrated for the required profile, species, width, and finish intent.

Test Runs and Adjustments
Short test pieces confirm accuracy and finish quality before the full run begins.

Full Production
Material is run through the moulder for consistent results.  Dimensions are checked regularly with calipers to confirm accuracy.

2) Understanding lead times

Most short-run molding orders are completed in about one week. Larger or complex projects may require additional time.

Factors That Extend Turnaround
Detailed profiles, multi-profile packages, knife grinding, species availability, and matching requirements can increase lead time.

Why Loxaco Stays Fast
With four moulders available, even if two are tied up on longer runs, we still have two available for short runs.  That keeps short-run flexibility without pushing small jobs behind long runs.

3) Short run molding explained

Short-run moldings are ideal for small projects, custom details, repairs, or profile matching. There is no minimum order.

Common Uses
Feature walls, renovations, additions, custom openings, and historic reproduction work.

4) Set up fees and why they exist

Setup fees cover installing the knives in the head, installing the heads on the moulder, machine calibration, test runs (including material used for testing), quality checks, and cleanup.

Setup takes the same time whether we run 10 feet or 5,000 feet.

Set up fees = no minimum order
By charging set up fees, we don’t require a minimum amount of lineal footage to be ordered.  Many other millwork companies bury their set up fees into their lineal footage price, and then require a minimum order to cover the setup fees.  This leaves you with a bunch of extra molding that you don’t need and a bill that’s more than you wanted to spend.

5) Production Capacity

Output varies by species, profile size, and running speed. Full custom homes typically take about two weeks due to the number of profiles involved.  We can comfortably produce around 10,000lf a day with a few changeovers.  More changeovers equals less lineal footage, less changeovers equals more lineal footage.

6) Custom profile matching

Builders can send a physical sample, drawing, or scanned cross section with measurements. We reproduce the profile in the requested species.

7) Wood species

Common species include poplar, white oak, red oak, ash, walnut, and pecky cypress. Additional species are available upon request.

8) Ordering requirements

To quote accurately, we need the profile reference or sample, species, linear footage, and desired turnaround time.

9) Service area

We serve professional clients within roughly one hundred miles of Frostproof, Florida. Delivery is available for approved builders.

UPS shipping across the USA
Short runs under 10 pieces, cut to 94.5″, can be shipped all over the USA for reasonable shipping fees.  As such, we can service clients all over the USA with short runs or replications.

10) Reorders and knife storage

Custom knives are stored for future runs, allowing fast repeat production.  We add these profiles to our stock knife catalog.

12) Contact for quotes

Builders and designers may request quotes through the website or by email. Most quotes are completed within one business day.
